The Trans-Mountain pipeline has resumed shipping Alberta oil products to British Columbia.
The pipeline had been shut down for three weeks, after storms dumped massive amounts of rain on parts of B-C, setting off flooding and landslides.
Officials at the federally-owned company say all necessary repairs have been completed…..some of which included protective earthworks after parts of the pipeline were exposed by flooding.
They add they’re closely monitoring conditions.
Further work needs to be done….including the relocation of some sections of the pipeline.
It carries 300-thousand barrels of Alberta petroleum products to B-C each day.
It’s not yet known if the increased supply will mean an end to the government’s imposition of a 30-litre refill limit at gas stations in the southwest and on Vancouver Island.
