Hope Air gets a funding boost

Hope Air got a boost $1.5 million funding boost from the provincial government today.

The charity provides flights and accommodations to those who can’t afford to travel to their medical appointments.

Hope Air passenger and Prince George parent Nicole had to make 11 trips to Vancouver one year for surgery on her sons eyes. “There’s no family that I know that could possibly afford a bill like that.”

“My son needed surgery and my son could not afford it… the fact that I found out about Hope Air, that’s honestly what it gave us; hope.”

The charity provides flights to people of all ages, but over half last year for for children or their families.

In the first three months of 2015, Hope Air provided 1,668 flights to BC residents. 270 of those went to Prince George families. Three out of the five busiest routes for Hope Air originated in Northern BC.
