All you need is a free permit and you can cut your own Christmas tree this holiday season.
The permit can be obtained through the Prince George District Office, FrontCounter BC office, or online here.
The Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations wants you to keep a few things in mind:
- You can cut trees on vacant Crown land
- Make sure the tree is wildlife-free before cutting
- Cut stumps as low as possible. They shouldn’t exceed more than thirty centimetres in height
- The trees are for personal use and not resale
Prince George District Resource Manager Dave Banham says a permit is good for cutting up to three trees.
Banham recommends you bring a safety kit before heading out. Pack ropes, gloves, tools, tire chains, a first aid kit, a mobile phone and warm clothing.
