49% BC drivers have equipped their vehicle with winter tires.
Barry Yutronkie with the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada believes a lot of observations have been made by motorists.
“As people try winter tires for the first time they are noticing quite a significant improvement in handling and stopping, and they’re telling friends who are putting them on as well.”
The recommendation for winter tire usage is 7 degrees celsius or lower according to Yutronkie.
“This is a temperature we see quite regularly across the province and at that point, an all-season tire loses it’s elastic property and does not have the same grip below that point.”
68% of drivers in Canada now use winter tires.
