BC Consumer Price Index rises 2.1% in October

People in BC were paying a bit more for necessities last month as the provincial consumer price index rose 2.1%

Analyst, Zachary Glazier says the province’s gas index blew the national rate out of the water.

“So gasoline at the national level was up 2.5% and comparing that with BC was 7.2% year-over-year in October which is quite a bit more in the province than at the Canada level.”

Canada’s CPI rose 1.5% in October.

Food and fresh vegetables index saw a nose dive in BC last month according to Glazier.

“At the BC level that was down 2.6% in October and only of the 7 categories recorded an upward contribution to the index and that was fish.”
