BC residents had more money in their pockets during August according to Stats Canada.
Analyst, Gordon Song says the province enjoyed a steady increase of weekly earnings. “In British Columbia, average weekly earnings for August was at $924.00 which is an increase of $18.00 per week or an increase of 1.9% compared to the same month of the previous year.”
In Canada, the average weekly earnings for August was $960.42.
BC was one of 9 provinces to experience a year-over-year jump.
Song adds the province experienced a recent boom in one category. “The number of non-farm payroll jobs has increased by about 61,000 or 3% similar to what was found in the July numbers. The percent increase to payroll employment in BC was the highest among all provinces.”
The highest weekly earnings in Canada belongs to the Northwest Territories at $1371.71
