Weekly earnings in BC drop to $915 in July

$915.42 is the new weekly earnings average in BC for July.

That’s a decline of $11.02 compared to June, but Gordon Song with Stats Canada says despite the drop, several sectors enjoyed pay hikes.

“There were notable wage increases in Information and Cultural Industries as well as Finance and Insurance. There were also employment increases in Educational Services, as well as Professional, Scientific and Technical Services, employees in these sectors are typically paid higher than the provincial average in BC.”

June’s average weekly earning average in BC sat at $925.60 while the national rate currently sits at $954.61.

Alberta has seen the biggest yearly decrease of any province in the past year at 18.2%

The highest weekly earnings in Canada belongs to the Northwest Territories at $1387.25.
