Average weekly earnings in BC take another step forward in May

Workers in BC earned an average of $919.11 in May according to Stats Canada.

That’s an increase of 1.5% during the same time last year.

Analyst, Gordon Song says the jump is right in line with other provinces.

“British Columbia had the 4th largest increase in May, taking top spot was New Brunswick due to a 4% jump followed by Quebec at 2.8% and Ontario at 1.9%.”

Real Estate, Rental and Leasing, Finance and Insurance, and Wholesale Trade were responsible for the earnings increase in the province.

On the flip side, Alberta experienced one of the biggest drops among all province at 3.7%.

The average weekly earnings in Canada is $955.57 which is a jump of 0.9% in the past 12 months.
