A $5000 boost is coming to the Freshwater Fisheries Society.
The funding was made available by the Nechako-Kitimaat Development Fund.
Dan Boudreau with the NKDF says the proposed Water Stewardship Centre in Vanderhoof is gaining momentum.
“The White Sturgeon Conservation Centre has gained a lot of publicity. It appears to be picking up momentum with a lot of interest in saving the fish and it’s a good project. It’s good of our board of directors to get behind it.”
The NKDF also announced $15,680 to the Village of Fraser Lake to help fund the Festival of Arts in August.
Boudreau adds the funding will help out a community that has fallen on hard times.
“The community suffered a loss with the closure of the Endako Mine a while back and they are making efforts to deal with it and this is one of those efforts.”
The NKDF approved $120,000 to support four projects in May.
