BC continues to outperform Canada when it comes to the unemployment rate.
Stats Canada Labour Division Analyst, Vince Ferrao broke down the May numbers.
“The unemployment rate of 6.1% is below the national average of 6.9%. On a year over year basis, there was very slow growth at the national level which saw employment grow by only 0.6% compared to B.C.’s 3% increase.”
In BC, 69,500 more people were working last month which accounts for the 3% increase.
