For the first time since 1976, BC has the lowest unemployment rate in Canada at 5.8%.
Stats Canada, Labour Division Analyst, Vince Ferrao says April was a good month for the province. “The number of people working on a year over year basis is up by about 4.9% so that is 110,000 more people working.”
The jobless rate in Prince George is down from the 5.6% mark during the same time last year and is now at 4.7%.
46,700 people were working in the city last month compared to the 45,400 just 12 months ago.
The national unemployment rate is 7.1%.
