Vanderhoof is putting the needs of others ahead of itself.

Proceeds from Saturday’s “Ice Out” concert were initially going to fund the Aquatic Centre. But now, the money will be split with Red Cross’ Fort McMurray relief efforts.

Lead singer of local band “Bonifyed” Lauren Matthew pitched the idea to organisers. He says we have to look at the bigger picture.

“We’ve a lot of the Aquatic Centre fundraising stuff which has all been amazing, adn it’s going continue, but there’s a bigger picture that needs to be looked at and its Fort McMurray.”

Tickets for the 19-plus event are $10 dollars at Earthen Ware.

Bonifyed will close out the concert at the arena, which starts at 8.
