District of Vanderhoof mulling over skate-park location

The District of Vanderhoof is still mulling over potential locations for its skatepark.

Mayor Gerry Thiessen says council will continue its due diligence to find the right spot.

“We are looking at different sites in the area, so far seven are being discussed and two of those were highlighted so we want to make sure these places give young people good access to it.”

One of the possible locations is Ferland Park but that location has come under fire due to it’s close proximity to housing, tennis courts and the lack of space to hold the skatepark.

Council has been pushing for a skatepark for the past year and a half after the demand for one has grown with some many skateboarders seen in the community.
