Lanzinger re-elected as BC Federation of Labour President

A new 2-year term awaits BC Federation of Labour President Irene Lanzinger.

She was re-elected during BCFED’s 57th convention in Vancouver this week.

Lanzinger says her focus will be on two major topics going forward.

“One is poverty and inequality among the growing gap between the rich and poor and the other is climate change. We have lots to say on both of those issues and some of the things I think we need for the poverty and inequality issues is we need a higher minimum wage and better employment standards.”

Lanzinger has been the president at BCFED since November of 2014 and is happy to be back at the helm. “I am very proud of our labour movement in BC in the work we do fighting for employees and is an honour and a privilege to lead that movement.”

The Federation of Labour also launched the Better can Happen Here campaign.

It is geared toward electing a new government that will make life better for working families in the province.
